Keppel Islands Double Dive

New years resolution more do more Diving… so kick start the year with a dive in the Keppel Islands with Keppel Dive. Bit of a cloudy drizzly windy day but cool change from the summer heat and always beautiful once you’re under water.

Slight hiccup and very rookie error in forgetting my brand new gopro battery! But the new camera came for a dive and looking forward to trying it next dive. But snapped some pretty above water boat pics.

Double Dive on the 2nd January 2026 at Half Way Island and Middle Island. Haven’t dived the Keppels in many years and always surprises me how resilient but changing the ecosystem and biodiversity is here.

Saw some big rays, plenty of coral trout, nudibranchs, massive sea urchin, feather star, massive schools of colorful reef fish, soft corals.

Currents a bit all over at Half Way Island on turn of big tide and then shallow second dive at Middle Reef enjoying a dive in the wavey soft surge. Shrimp and Crabs and a massive cray were fun to find.

Dive logs because I also left my dive watch in Brisbane but it was a last minute opportunity to go and lucky I keep some gear in the car all the time. And thankfully they still ran the dive even thought there was only 2 people onboard.

Ended the day hanging out on the beach with Grace and Ben. Lunch and a few ginger beers before catching the ferry back to Yeppoon.
